Returning resident

The State of Israel grants tax benefits to returning residents while clearly separating "regular" returning residents from "veteran" returning residents. The benefits that are given to returning residents and new immigrants are far-reaching and therefore it is necessary to process the application to the Tax Authority for the status in advance, before immigrating to Israel, in order to increase the chance of success in the process.

A regular returning resident is a resident of Israel who has cut off the center of life in Israel in favor of permanent residence abroad (following relocation, establishing a business abroad, etc.) for at least 6 consecutive years.

This quorum is only relevant for Israeli residents who have left the country since 2009. Israeli residents who left Israel before January 1, 2009 are considered "regular" returning residents after three years abroad.
